Highly useful for sampling cohsionless soils. Consists of asplit tube accommodating ten thin brass rigs 2.5 inchdiameter, 1" high. A shoe with a hardened cutting edge isscrewed at one end. A driving head with a ball check valve isfitted at the other end. The flap mounted inside the cuttingshoe prevent the cohesion less soil falling down while liftingthe samler. The rings with sample can be mounted directly ona consolidation cell assembly..
