It Is called 15 cm extensiometer. I! is made of gun metal andcomprises of an accurate hinged ring with stainless steel setscrews held rightly by a spring. The extension is on a dialgauge. I! Is suitable for 15 cm x 30 cm cylindrical test moulds. I! has a control bar fixed on both ends of the extension rodwith screws. When the test specimen has been held by thestainless set screws the control bar is released and theinstrument Is in operation. The extension is read, while thetest specimen is under compression test, on the dial gauge,which' is fixed to the extensometer. The dial indicator whichreads to 0.0005" or .01 mm gauge shows the averageextension on the sides of the specimen.
